Prince and Princess - Host Set

On my preorder with Stampin' Up!, I fell in love with the host set Prince and Princess because of this beautiful swan.  When I was searching for ideas on cards to create, I found this card and decided to somewhat case it and it also opened my eyes to the new Basic Borders Dies to create the clouds, so I knew I needed to have it too.
The original was inspired by Karen Ksenzakovic.  I did a lot of masking using post-it notes to lay over the swan after stamping it the first time and then again on the cattail leaves.  I used the Double Oval Punch for my sentiment.
Instructions for my card:

Stamp Set:  Prince and Princess (Host)

Cardstock:  Pool Party, Basic White

Ink:  Memento Black, Pool Party

Stampin’ Blends: Just Jade, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate, Soft Suede

Other:  Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine, Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, Basic Borders Dies (clouds), Double Oval Punch, Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Post-it notes

1.     The base of the card is Pool Party cardstock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4” in the middle.

2.    The second layer is also Pool Party cardstock cut at 4” x 5-1/4” and inserted into the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.

3.    The third layer is Basic White cardstock cut at 4” x 5-1/4” and die-cut with the Basic Borders Die at the top.

4.    Ink up the swan stamp with Memento Black ink and stamp on the 4” x 5-1/4” Basic White cardstock.  Stamp again on a post-it note and cut out with the Paper Snips to lay over the first stamped image so that it can be masked with the water rings.  Also, cut one of the leaves of the cattails on a post-it.

5.    Using the masks, ink up the cattails leaves left and right of the swan.  Color them in with the Stampin’ Blends.

6.    Glue the Basic White cardstock to the Pool Party Tasteful Textile cardstock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

7.    Ink up the sentiment “You’re one of a Kind” on Pool Party cardstock and use the Double Oval Punch to punch it out.  Punch out a Basic White scallop oval to layer it onto.  Pop it up with Dimensionals.

Inspired Thoughts - Sympathy

This is a sympathy card that I made today.  It seems I've needed a few sympathy cards lately.  The new set Inspired Thoughts has perfect sentiments for this type of card.  The tree die is not the one that comes with the bundle Inspired Thoughts Bundle, but instead, I used the single tree from the Beautiful Trees Die that comes with the Beauty of Friendship Bundle using Basic White cardstock.  I'll enjoy making lots of cards with both of these bundles.  Here is how I made my card:

Stamp Set:  Inspired Thoughts

Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Basic White, Watercolor Paper

Ink:  Night of Navy Refill, Versamark Ink Pad, White Embossing Powder

Other:  Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine, Beautiful Tree Dies, Inspired Canopy Dies, Spritzer, Water Painters, Clear Block, Chalk Marker, Stampin’ Seal, Heat Tool, and Dimensionals

1.     The base of the card is Night of Navy cardstock cut at 4-1/4” x 11” and scored at 5-1/2” in the middle.

2.    The second layer is Basic White cardstock cut at 4” x 5-1/4” and added to the base of the card with an Adhesive.

3.    Cut the Watercolor Paper larger than you will use so that you can cut it to size.

4.    Place on plastic and mist Watercolor Paper with water in a Spritzer.

5.    Add refill Night of Navy to a Clear Block.  Pick it up with a Water Painter that is also filled with water.  Drop on the wet Watercolor Paper and then let dry.

6.    Die-cut a Basic White tree from the Beautiful Tree Dies in the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.  Die-cut a Night of Navy “ground” with the die from Inspired Canopy Dies.  Glue down the Basic White tree slightly to the right and then the Night of Navy ground over it at the bottom.

7.    Ink up the sentiment “With Heartfelt Sympathy” with Versamark ink and sprinkle White Embossing Powder over it and heat set with the Heat Tool.

8.    Add stars by adding with the Chalk Marker.  Trim Watercolor Paper to 3-1/2” x 4-5/8”.

9.    Add to the front of the card with Dimensionals.

Color and Contour - Soft Succulent Gate Fold

This is another Gate Fold Technique I learned from Carol Hickman's video.  I wanted to make one with the new In-Color Soft Succulent and I also used the new Hand-Penned DSP.  Although Soft Succulent is not one of the colors in the Designer Series Paper, I thought it went well with it anyway.  The greens in the DSP are Mint Melody, Garden Green, and Pool Party.  Here are my instructions:

Stamp Set:  Color and Contour

Cardstock:  Soft Succulent, Basic White, and Hand-Penned DSP

Ink:  Soft Succulent

Other:  Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine, Scalloped Contours Dies, Paper Trimmer, Bone Folder, 3/8” Open Weave Soft Succulent Ribbon, 2021-2023 In-Color Jewels, Glue Dots, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

1.     The base of the card is Soft Succulent cardstock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 2-1/8” and 6-3/8” to form a gatefold.  (or score at 2-1/8” at both ends).  Use the Bone Folder to crease the score lines.

2.    Use the third Largest Scalloped Contour Die to die-cut two Soft Succulent scalloped rectangles and one Basic White rectangle.

3.    Adhere the 1-15/16” x 3-1/4” DSP to the two Soft Succulent Scalloped rectangles with adhesive (Multipurpose Glue or Stampin’ Seal).

4.    Ink up the stem/leaf flower outline image with Soft Succulent on the Basic White rectangle.  Using the 2-step stamping method, ink up the solid flower image with Soft Succulent ink and stamp off once so it’s not as bold.  It’s abstract, so it won’t line up perfectly.

5.    Use the largest Scalloped Contour Die to die-cut Basic White for the inside of the card.  Ink up the outline of the flower with Soft Succulent and stamp it in the lower right of the Basic White die.

6.    Only adhere one-third of each of the two rectangles with adhesive and put one at top and one at the bottom of the card so it’s opposite of both sides.

7.    For the top Basic White scalloped Rectangle, add Dimensionals only at the top one-third so it will hang down.

8.    Add the ribbon bow with a Glue Dot.

9.    Add three In-Color Jewels.

Pansy Patch - Fun Fold Easel Vertical Card

I love gingham!  I also love the new Pansy Punch Bundle, so when I saw a video by Susan Campfield using both to make this Fun Fold Easel Vertical Card, I knew I wanted to case her card using all three colors which are Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, and Soft Succulent.  Susan called the inside of the card a "Kickstand"  because the inside of the card has a small pansy where the front of the card will help it stand like an easel card.  Here are my instructions to make her cards: (Of course, some of the colors will change).

Stamp Set:  Pansy Patch

Cardstock:  Basic White, Fresh Freesia, Evening Evergreen, Pansy Petal DSP

Ink:  Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather (or Gorgeous Grape), Evening Evergreen, and Soft Succulent

Other:  Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine and/or Mini, Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder, Scalloped Contour Dies, Bone Folder, Tear and Tape, Adhesive Sheet, Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Seal, Glue Dots, and 3/8” Soft Succulent Ribbon

1.     The base of the card is Basic White cardstock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4” and 2-1/8” to create a mountain fold on the front.  Use the Bone Folder.

2.    The second layers are embossed panels of Basic White cardstock cut at 2” x 5-1/4” Use the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder.  Adhere both of the panels with Multipurpose Liquid Glue to both sides of the card base.

3.    Use the second from the largest Scalloped Contour Dies to die-cut the large Basic White scallop from 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” Basic White cardstock for the front.

4.    Layer the 2-5/8” x 3-7/8” Pansy Petal DSP Fresh Freesia gingham to the center of the large scalloped with Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

5.    Adhere Tear and Tape on the back on the left side to adhere to the front of the card.

6.    Die-cut 2-1/3” x 3-1/2” Basic White cardstock using the second from the smallest Scalloped Contour Dies.  Ink up the sentiment “Happy Birthday” or “Thank you” with Fresh Freesia and stamp at the very bottom of the small contour die.

7.    Use the Adhesive Sheets to create the pansy stem and buds using Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, and Basic White.  Adhere together and add to the small contour die.  (When die-cut, this die makes slits in it so you can add ribbon or let cardstock show through.)

8.    Add the ribbon with a Glue Dot to the stem.

9.    For the inside, use the 2-1/2” x 2-1/2” Basic White cardstock and stamp the detailed stamp first with the darkest ink Highland Heather.  Then for the solid inside layer of the pansy, add Fresh Freesia, but stamp off first.  For the leaves, use the darkest ink Evening Evergreen on the Basic White.  Then the solid image using Soft Succulent by stamping off first.  Die-cut them out in the Mini Stampin’ and Cut Machine.   Add a Glue Dot to the front of the leaf to attach to the pansy.  Put Dimensionals on the back and adhere to the inside right side of the card to create a “kickstand” for the easel.
