Bird's Eye View - Graduation Cards

We made this card at my card club last Monday night.  The card was inspired by a card on TAMS.
The gals had a little trouble at first scoring but my youngest member who is 8 caught on to it right away.  It's sort of origami and she does it all the time.

Stamp Set:  Beautiful Balloons, Bird’s Eye View

Cardstock:  Blueberry Bushel, Basic White

Ink:  Blueberry Bushel, Stampin’ Blends

Other:  Paper Trimmer, Pencil, Bone Folder, Multipurpose Liquid Glue

1.     The base of the card is Blueberry Bushel cut at 4-1/4” x 9-3/4” and scored at 5-1/2”. Use the Bone Folder to burnish the 5-1/2” score line.

2.     Place the folded edge onto the Paper Trimmer at 2-1/8” and create a tic mark with a pencil at the top and bottom.  Turn it over and do the same on the other side.

3.    Now, place the card base into the Paper Trimmer and line up the tic marks, and score with the scoring blade on the Paper Trimmer from the top left to the bottom right and vice-versa to create an “X” and burnish with the Bone Folder.  Push the side panels in and the diamond-shaped panel down to create the mortarboard card front.

4.    Cut the Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5-1/4”.  Mark a 2” tic mark at the top.  Turn the Basic White cardstock and measure a 2” tic mark on each side from the top.  Cut from the 2” tic mark to the 2” tick mark on each side to create a point. This will be your insert for the card.

5.    Ink up the sentiment “I think it’s time for a Celebration” with Blueberry Bushel ink at the very bottom of the Basic White bottom insert.

6.    Two inches from the bottom of the insert, ink up the books, the bird, and the glasses from Bird’s Eye View with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.   Color in with the Blends.

7.    For the top insert, cut Basic White cardstock at 2-3/4” x 2-3/4”.  With the square turned to a diamond shape, try to eyeball where to make cut lines with the Paper Trimmer so you can insert money.  The lines should be about ¾” apart and about 1-1/2” long parallel to each other.  Ink up “Woo-Hoo!” with Blueberry Bushel ink between the lines.  Attach to the top but only add adhesive to the outside edges, not the center or you can’t put the money in.

8.    For the top of the Mortarboard, add a Basic White tassel with a Blueberry Bushel Gem in the center or most of them used the tassel's I bought on Amazon using a Square Brad after punching a hole in the center.
