Rocking Horse - Rocker Card

This is the very first rocker card that I made following instructions from a tutorial by Karen Titus.  The set is called Rocking Horse.  They are so much fun to make.  I think it would make an excellent baby shower card because the dies have a teddy bear and ABC blocks to go with it.  It uses the Deckled Circle Dies to make the rocking mechanism.  See the directions below:

Stamp Sets:  Rocking Horse

Cardstock:  Poppy Parade, Thick Basic White, Basic White, and Merry Bold & Bright DSP

Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento

Stampin’ Blends:  Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo

Other:  Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine, Paper Trimmer, Simply Scoring Tool, Bone Folder, Deckled Circles Dies, Rocking Horse Dies, Glue Dots, Multipurpose Liquid Glue,

1.     Die-cut a 4” circle (6th from the largest) from Poppy Parade cardstock using the Deckled Circles Dies #162286 for $37 on page 63.

2.    Score in half at 2” using the Trimmer or Simply Scoring Tool.  Use a Bond Folder to burnish the score line.

3.    Die-cut a 3-3/4” circle (7th from the largest) from the Merry Bold & Bright DSP #161934 for $12.50 on page 9.

4.    It is easier just to fold the DSP in half and then glue it to the Poppy Parade circle with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

5.    Cut a ½” x 2” piece of Poppy Parade cardstock.  Score at ½”, 1”, and 1-¾”.  Fold and burnish score marks with Bone Folder.  This will hold the base together.  Add adhesive to the two ends and attach to the inside of the card base.

6.    Ink up the rocking horse stamp on 3” x 4-1/4” Thick Basic White cardstock.  Color the horse with the Stampin’ Blends.

7.    Die-cut the horse with the Rocking Horse Dies.  Cut one extra from Poppy Parade cardstock.

8.    Die-cut a Poppy Parade rocker to add to the bottom of the horse.

9.    Glue the two horses together with Multipurpose Glue but not the bottom rockers.

10.  Attach Glue Dots to the middle of the rockers on either side and attach to the top of the folded Poppy Parade Deckled Circles (rocker base).

11.   Cut ½” x 3-1/8” strip of Basic White cardstock and ink up the sentiment “Have a Rockin’ Christmas” with Poppy Parade ink.

12.  Layer onto ¾” x 3-1/4” Poppy Parade strip.  Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the layers and attach to the card base.

13.  Now, your rocking horse should rock back and forth.

14.  Note:  This would make a great to change it to an adorable baby card.  You could also put a Basic White piece on the back to write your message.
